About Us

Mendip Accountancy was formed in 1998 and was incorporated as a Limited Liability company in 2002. The company moved to Frome in Somerset in 2004.

The company is licensed and regulated by the Institute of Financial Accountants who demand the highest standards of professionalism.

The firms managing director is John Garfitt

John left University in 1975 and initially trained in Retail Management with Allied Suppliers (Presto Supermarkets) which are now part of Morrison's. He moved into accountancy in 1985, completing his training with BDO in Bristol (now BDO Stoy Hayward). He quickly realised that big firm accountancy was not what he wanted to do, preferring the more personal approach of smaller firms, and moved to become accounts and tax manager with a small firm in the centre of Bristol.

John moved to a firm in Somerset in 1992 and eventually decided to obtain his own practicing certificate and set up Mendip Accountancy in 1998.

When not working at the day job John and his wife enjoy the theatre, cinema, travel and gardening.
